Spring Herb Classes 2017 for Adults and Kids!

We'll discuss the differences in tea brewing techniques between aromatic and nutritive herbs; and leaf/flower and root combinations! We'll laugh a lot and we'll each return home with a delicious blend we've crafted individually for our own needs during class!
Plant Spirit Journey Series
March 15, 22 (Wednesdays), 6:00 - 8:00pm, Milk and Honey Cafe at Swallowtail, 84 Cove Street, Portland ($19)
With the aid of a steady drum beat, we will visit the spirit of a medicinal plant, to ask it what we might do to support it, and what teachings it may have for us. A moving and extraordinary way to connect with what is ordinary on a deeper level. Please bring a blanket, a water bottle, a journal and your favorite writing tool to record your experience. Winter Herb Walk
March 20 (Monday), 6:00 - 7:00pm, private location near Breakwater School in Portland ($10)
Explore how the plants take shape in the winter months - how can we recognize them? Visit with Lemon Balm, Motherwort, Black Cohosh, WIld Carrot, Elder, Iris, Sweet Grass, Yellow Dock, Thyme, Sage, Rue, Calendula, Sage, Blue Vervain, Anise Hyssop, Bee Balm, Teasel, Nettles. Mount Joy Spring Planting Festival! Herbal First Aid Remedies in the Mt. Joy Orchard!
May 7 (Sunday), 10am – 4pm (exact time TBD)
Please join us for our annual tree planting and sheet mulching event, every year we set the stage for a good growing season by planting new trees in the orchard and converting an area of grass to a multi-functional, low maintenance garden area. To get this done requires many hands, but there are jobs for people of all abilities. Activities are mostly informal, so feel free to come for the whole day or just an hour, your help is appreciated either way. To help make this a fun and educational event we will be offering a variety of free workshops throughout the day.

As the plants reawaken to spring, we will visit with these extraordinary beings in their young stages of growth - learning to recognize their patterns across the refreshed landscape. Our evening will be rich with herbal folklore and inspired by the rising full moon and setting sun.

Wild Carrot as a Natural Conscious Contraception
HERBAN – Weekend Festival of Plant Medicine

Explore the extraordinary gift of Wild Carrot, offering her flowers and seeds to support goals of contraception OR fertility. Relationship to one’s own cycle determines the timing of when Wild Carrot is our best ally. She is not always for everyone – we’ll talk about contraindications, appropriate dosing and how and when to harvest her to make your own wild and beautiful medicine respectfully.
Medicinal Herb Walk: Robinson Woods
May 30, Tuesday, 6:30 - 8:00pm, Robinson Woods Kiosk, Cape Elizabeth
Join Mischa Schuler, owner of Wild Carrot Herbs on a walk through Robinson Woods. As the plants reawaken to spring, we will visit with these extraordinary beings in their young stages of growth - learning to recognize their patterns across the refreshed landscape. Our evening will be rich with herbal folklore and inspired by the moon and setting sun. Participants who register at least 48 hours in advance of the program will receive notification of changes or cancellation. Meet at Robinson Woods Kiosk. ($6 per person through Cape Elizabeth Land Trust)
Spirit Work with the Plants

This program is still unfolding and will be much impacted by those who share the circle. We'll be exploring the elemental aspects of the plants, journeying to plant spirit guides, and deepening relationship with the plants between classes. We will be moving among gardens in the Portland area to develop relationship with the spirits of the Land and plants. Please contact Mischa expressing your interest.
Early Spring Plant ID and Foraging Walks
May 17, 24, 31 (Wednesdays), 6:00 - 8:00 pm
Each week well explore a different area in Portland, harvesting plants when appropriate for medicine making. The first week we'll meet at the monument at the intersection of Congress Street and the Eastern Prom. ($60)
Plant Walk on the Eastern Prom
June 13, (Tuesday) 6:00 - 7:30pm
Come join herbalist and flower essence practitioners Mischa Schuler and Debra Bluth for an evening medicinal plant walk on the Eastern Prom. We'll meet botanical allies and talk about how to identify, engage, and benefit from their presence in our lives. We'll share personal stories, folklore, and science, and you'll leave with a sense of new green friends, hopefully inspired to learn more about the possibilities of plant medicine. We'll meet at the monument at the intersection of Congress Street and Eastern Prom.
Summer Residential Beginner Herbal Workshop
Sunday, August 13 - Saturday, August 19
Experience a week of joy and delight meeting your plant allies in the woods and meadows of Windham, Maine, 25 minutes outside of Portland, Maine!
We'll be nestled onto beautiful Overlook Farm, with extraordinary sunsets, delicious farm meals, evening fire circles, and ample time for exploration, tea drinking, and learning directly with the plants.
We anticipate that you'll return home inspired by the natural world and trusting your ability to bring herbs into your daily Life!
Among the topics we'll cover, include:
* herbal energetics
* herb walks and plant identification
* medicine making (infusions, decoctions, tinctures, vinegars, oils, salves, syrups and flower essences)
* plant meditation
* sustainable harvesting
* plant spirit journeying
By the end of the week, you will be familiar with over thirty beloved herb friends and how they support and strengthen the body
Among the medicines we'll make to take home include:
* heal-all salve
* immune syrup
* bitters tincture
* flower essence
* fire cider
Tenting and 18 delicious home-made, organic meals will be provided.
The cost for the seven day program is $830.
A deposit of $200 holds your place. Payment plans are available.

Minimum number of students to run the program is 14. Maximum number of students is 16.
